Cape Kinaveral jumps way into feature double contention

Cape Kinaveral is almost certain to be given his chance at the dream double after his stylish victory in today’s Grand National Steeplechase at Riccarton.

The free-going jumper’s fortunes took a turn for the better in the Racecourse Hotel-sponsored feature, with the focus now turning toward next month’s premier jumping meeting at Ellerslie.

“I would say Graeme would keep him going for the Northern without any doubt,” co-trainer Debbie Rogerson said. “The horse has had a lot of issues with a hip and a lot of bad luck so he deserves this…”
