FLAIR’s September Contest

Posted on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 at 5:05 pm.

This month’s contest is for anyone out there planning on going to, or riding in, this weekend’s American Eventing Championships (AECs) in Fairburn Georgia. You cowboys and cowgirls may be grumbling –  feeling slighted and left out of this one?   Not to worry.  We promise we’ll have one just for you Rodeo folks very soon! But, because we are sponsoring this month’s AEC, we wanted to create a little contest just for the occasion!

The winning entrant will receive a gift package containing three (3) FLAIR Strips,  a FLAIR® Hat, and a FLAIR Microfiber Strip Rag.

So here are the details:

  • Post a photo or one-minute video, that you created at the 2011 AECs, on our Facebook page along with a short description of your entry.
  • Heads UP!  All entries must feature a FLAIR Equine Nasal Strip, either before, during, or after competition so use your imagination.
  • The photo/one-minute video with the most “likes” wins.
  • Be as creative as you’d like.  Just make sure that there’s a FLAIR Strip featured in the entry. (We know you’re thinking … why do they keep repeating this?  You’ll see later.)
  • Make sure your video is no longer than one minute in length.
  • One entry per person please.  If you enter more than once, your first entry will be the one that counts — Besides multiple entries would dilute your personal voting pool, right?
  • The winning photo/video will be posted on our flairstrips.com website for all to enjoy, and will be prominently featured with lavish attention on our Facebook page!
  • All submitted entries may be posted from time to time on our Facebook page or flairstrips.com website, without further compensation. However we will heap on our lavish praise.  By entering your photo/video, you agree to all of these terms.
  • Deadline for contest submissions is Sunday, September 18, 2011 by midnight CT (11pm ET) –  No exceptions — can’t be helped.
  • The winner will be announced at  Noon CT (11am ET) on Monday, September 19, 2011, rain or shine (barring a tie) — a concept with which all Eventers are all too familiar.
  • If there is a voting tie for the win, a tie-breaker voting period of 24 hours duration will ensue. Tied entries will compete in a run-off t until Monday September 19 at midnight CT (11pm ET), and the winner announced  Tuesday September 20 at noon CT (11am ET).
  • You must be the creative genius and owner of any image/video you submit — no borrowing.
  • Any entry that does not contain a FLAIR® Strip will be deemed ineligible and removed from the contest pool. (See — important!)
  • Any entry deemed inappropriate by Flair, LLC will automatically become ineligible and removed from the contest pool –  keep it family oriented please!

So enter your FLAIR-containing AEC photo or AEC one-minute video and get your friends to vote for you so you can win!

August held good fortune for Chelsea Tanner

Posted on Tuesday, September 6th, 2011 at 9:34 pm.

August was a great month for my great gelding, Dashin For Freedom and I. In the 3 shows we attended he made over $1000 – including winning the 2D at the UBRA World Finals and placing 3rd in the 2D for the Maturity at the Finals as well. We ran the 11th fastest of the entire 1st go at our Iowa NBHA State Finals and qualified the short go but unfortunately tipped a barrel. Headed to the Big J Barrel Blast and ended up winning 5th in the 1D there as well! Cash is running stronger than ever and we are ready to keep our winning streak going — attending a Labor Day barrel race and then to Indiana next weekend for a big Future Fortunes event. Wish us luck!

Go Team FLAIR!

Sam Griffiths’ Burghley Blog — So Nearly…

Posted on Monday, September 5th, 2011 at 12:54 am.

On our way back to deepest Dorset now. I am of course a little disappointed with our rails but the conditions were tricky and clear rounds this afternoon were few and far between. I was actually pleased with a lot of the round as Happy threw some fantastic jumps but it just wasn’t our day today. Oh well, things can always be worse and the main thing is Happy is very well and fit after that tough xc. I am still on a high from our xc round – I had a fantastic ride and I know we would have scored even better in the dressage if we’d had a Friday afternoon slot. Happy will now have a well deserved holiday, getting fat and covered in mud and then I feel a few winter showjumping comps could be on the agenda! He’s just saving for when we’re jumping for the gold medal at London 2012!!  ~Sam.

Phew — XC is over…

Posted on Sunday, September 4th, 2011 at 12:33 am.

Burghley| Well, I have to admit to feeling pretty nervous about going first today! But we did it and Happy was just brilliant! He really flew round and it was a huge buzz coming through those finish flags. As I expected the course rode as big as it walked so it was a serious adrenalin rush to get round that. I then very much enjoyed being able to sit back and relax whilst watching everyone else do it! Happy has pulled up really well and looks a treat. It’s all very close at the top and we’re currently lying 8th with not much breathing space so keep everything crossed for me that those poles stay up tomorrow!  ~Sam

A Quiet Day at Burghley

Posted on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 at 11:12 am.

TEAM FLAIR'S Sam Griffiths

The cocktail party was, as always, a very special occasion. It was a beautiful evening and this time we were out on the front lawn of the house in amongst ancient yew trees- it was stunning! Having done my dressage I could definitely have my fair quota of bubbly! We then headed to the Event Riders Association dinner which is always great fun and good food. After all that we needed a quiet day today! We walked the course again, this time working out all our minute markers etc. I gave Happy a little jump this afternoon- he was on fire! Really ready to take on those huge fences tomorrow. I’m very pleased to say that I’m lying 10th equal after all the dressage so that’s pretty good from number one to go yesterday so we’re well in contention. This evening we’ve had an Aussie team BBQ for all the Aussie riders, owners and connections- as you can imagine some are still going strong but I’m sneaking off to bed very soon….Big day tomorrow – wish me luck!   Sam.
